Check-in with your self-confidence. Does your confidence come from: a) knowing you have financial support if you lose your job; or b) knowing you have a fallback home (i.e., parents or other family) if you can’t make rent; or c) having access to credit to smooth out the bumps; or, finally, d) knowing one or two persons who can pick up that expensive medical bill.

This is not confidence, it’s privilege. Having privilege helps you feel a bit safer and allows you to take more risks, thereby increasing your chances to get ahead. If you didn’t have those privileges, would you feel confident? Would you take a lot of risks? Remember that.

Real healthy confidence doesn’t come from privilege, it comes by sharing your wealth and sculpting your character.
